July 27th and summer seems to have officially arrived. The spring has been exciting at Outermost Land Survey, Inc. Don has been recruited by the Sokkia Corp. to "pose" for an advertisement for the Sokkia GPS units that he was requested to demo. The review for the GPS units came out in the April 2009 print edition. The company reprentatives were here on Cape Cod on one of the very coldest days of our winter. Fortunatly they are Canadian!!! . Normally it would NOT have been a field day, but Don rose to the occasion and took the reps and equiptment to a number of shorefront projects!

It may be chilly but at least the wind isn't blowing to hard.

We remain optimistic about the economy. I have seen that Cape Cod is in the front of any recovery and I expect we will see the same this time.

Request for proposals continue to come in the door and proposals go right back out. We are marketing the US government having had a successful project with the FAA at the former North Truro Air Base.

Spring will be coming son, I hope. After this past weeks storms the ground is once again ice covered but this time there is an addtional layer of powder snow!!

I had the pleasure of working with some middle school students from the Light House Charter School last month. It was a chilly day but the students held up well. I took a K&E Paragon Transit and set it up over an old boulder with a drill hole in it. I let the students look through the transit and explained how we could use the hairs to measure distances, too. We were working on the "Cornerstone Project" to find out how the town lines were established.

More recently we have been plugging along in a slowing economy. The jobs continue to come in, just slower than before.

I took the summer off from blogging, that is true. Now the kids are back in school, the weather is cooling and the leaves are starting to fall.

I have completed my two terms as President of the Cape Cod Chapter of Mass. Assoc. of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers and Reggie Donoghue has been elected as the new President. I will remain as a Director to the State Board.
